April Talk

Written by: | | Activity:

This was a fascinating talk on the life of the electrical pioneer Magnus Volk and how he came to design and build Volk's Electric Railway which still runs along Brighton seafront and is the oldest working electric railway in the world.

The talk was presented by Ian Gledhill over Zoom. It was a welcome return as Ian had previously given us an entertaining talk titled "Oh, We Do Like to be Beside the Seaside!".

Ian has a personal involvement as he is the Hon Chairman of Volk’s Electric Railway Association (Vera). He was therefore able to bring a personal perspective to the talk that made it all the more interesting!
