David Barry gave a very interesting and entertaining talk on how he became a child actor and starred in the hit comedy "Please Sir!".
Attending the Corona Academy Stage School, at the age of 14 David recounted how he toured Europe in 1957 with Sir Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh in Titus Andronicus; venues included Paris, Vienna, Belgrade and Warsaw.
He then went on to describe the path that took him to land the part of Frankie Abbott in "Please Sir". This was followed by the spin-off "The Fenn Street Gang". David has recently written a book about the history of "Please Sir!".
David shared many amusing anecdotes from his time in the theatre and films.
The talk was throughly enjoyed by our members and we appreciate David agreeing to give us the talk using Zoom.
